The Behringer PMP series interfaces carry a Level Set LED that lights up and stays on when optimal levels have been reached. Use this as a guide to setting up each channel, initially. The Clip LED should only illuminate momentarily at the peak of each signal. If it is on constantly, settings should be adjusted using the Trim option. With the Trim feature you can develop the levels you prefer and then use the feature to get within an optimal audio range without having to adjust any preferred presets. The MON setting is available on each channel in order to correct levels in the monitor mix. This is a useful, independent feature that allows the user to change the volume in the monitors but not on the track itself.
Only use either the XLR, or the 1/4-inch cable inputs on each channel. Do not use both inputs on a single channel. When using a mono input, always use the left jack. The stereo channels have an additional XLR input and can still be used with a mono signal by using the left input jack. The signal is simply duplicated. When the power mixer is bridged, only connect a single loudspeaker to Output B, never use the Output A input in bridge mode. Additionally, ensure that your loadspeakers are rated at at least 8?. Never connect unbalanced XLR connectors to the MIC input jacks when using phantom power supply.
Phantom Power is available onboard the PMP series consoles and is identified on the board as \"+48V.\" Phantom power is necessary for using condenser microphones. When turning phantom power on, be sure that all speakers connected to the console are muted to spare the popping noise that could cause damage. After phantom power is initiated, make sure to allow the system to stabilize for at least a minute before adjusting input gain.
The PMP consoles each have an FBQ switch. FBQ stands for feedback detection and can be activated while the EQ IN option is selected indicating that the graphic equalizer is initiated. FBQ is available in main and monitor mix. The XPQ surround feature is a unique effect that can be activated to widen the stereo signal and creating a more transparent sound. Voice Canceller is able to remove vocals from frequencies identified through the CD/TAPE input. This is the karaoke feature on the PMP console. There's also a 24-bit digital effects processor built into the PMP series of mixers. This processor, used in conjunction with the other features of the PMP line can result in high level production, professional results.
