Connect the MIDI device to the MIDI interface with the cables by plugging the "MIDI out" of the MIDI device into the "MIDI in" of the interface. Turn on the MIDI interface, if not automatically powered on, and power on the MIDI device.
Open the software and select "Project" from the top menu and select "Add Track." Select "MIDI" from the drop-down menu and "MIDI Inputs" from the "IN" field in the "Inspector" window. Scroll down and select the MIDI outputs from the "Out" field in the "Inspector" window.
Enable the "Record" button, which is located to the left in the "Track Field." Play the selected notes on your MIDI device to check the level meters in the "Track Field." Reconnect the MIDI cables if you don't see a signal when you press keys on your MIDI device.
Select the MIDI channel, located below the "MIDI Outputs" field, or select "Any" from the drop-down list to have the software detect all MIDI devices. Select a drum sound from your MIDI device and press buttons to play the selected notes. Press the "Record" button on the software and begin playing the selected drum notes.
Press the "Stop" button, located in the "Transport" window at the top of the screen, when you're done recording. Select "Project" from the top menu. Select "Add Track" and "MIDI." Set your MIDI device to the selected bass sound and play the selected notes. Arm the MIDI track for recording and press the "Record" button to record the selected notes.
Press the "Stop" button when you're done recording. Press the "Play" button at the top of the screen to preview the recording. Select "File" from the top menu and "Save" if you are satisfied with your recording.
