How to Make a Fake CD Cover

Creating your own CD covers makes your recorded CD-Rs look more professional. You can also store and find your copied CDs with greater ease. There are many ways you can make a fake CD cover, including a number of different software programs available over the Internet. With so much choice it is important to have an idea of what sort of cover you want to create so that you choose the right program to use.

  1. Using RonyaSoft

    • 1

      Go to the RonyaSoft site. Click the "Download" tab and select "CD DVD Label Maker" from the drop-down list. Click the "Download" link to download the software.

      Clicking its icon to run RonyaSoft. Go to "Template" options in the program and choose the relevant "Envelope" template by selecting the check-box next to it. Click "OK."

      Type in a title for your CD in the boxes below the headings "Specify Title 1," "Specify Title 2" and so on. Type in as much text as you wish to appear on your envelope. Type in the content list under the "Specify Contents" header.

      Click "Upload Image" and select an image from your computer if you want an image on your CD envelope. Click the "Print" tab when you have finished designing your envelope. Remove the paper from the printer when it is done printing and cut and fold along the lines to make the envelope. Insert your CD into the envelope.

      Go to AC Zoom and click on the "CD Inserts and Envelopes" link at the top of the left-hand column. Click on the "Online CD/DVD Inserts" link.

      Fill out the form that appears on the new screen. Upload any images you wish to use in the "Upload Cover" section on the form.

      Select the "Create Envelope for CD/DVD" option underneath the "Choose Output Type" header on the form.

      Click on the "Submit For Processing" tab when you have finished filling in the form. Now click on the "Output - PDF," "Output - PS," or "Output - GIF" depending on what file type you wish to print from.

      Open the file on your desktop and print it.

    iTunes

      Download and install iTunes to your computer.

      Click on its icon to open iTunes. Go to "File," then "New Playlist" and drag and drop any songs you want on your playlist into the file.

      Go to "Advanced" and "Get Album Artwork" and iTunes will automatically retrieve artwork for your music. Alternatively create your own artwork using any design program. Then drag and drop your desired artwork into the box in the bottom-left of your iTunes screen beneath the "Now Playing" header.

      Go to "File," then "Print." Choose how you want your design or images presented by clicking on the option in the drop-down list to the right of the "Theme" header.

      Click on the "Print" tab when you are happy with your design. Cut out the sleeve, then fold and glue it to make an envelope. Insert your CD into it.
