How to Set Phones for a Mackie 1202-VLZ3

The Mackie 1202-VLZ3 is suitable for recording or live sound for a small group. It has four XLR microphone inputs and four stereo line inputs. It's portable, weighing 6.5 pounds with height and width each measuring less than 12 inches. Each channel has a three-band equalizer with an additional low-cut filter on the four channels with microphone inputs. The small size of the mixer doesn't leave enough space for every possible feature. One of the items the 1202-VLZ3 lacks is a separate headphone volume control. The control room volume knob sets the headphone levels.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the "CTL Room/Submix" knob off. The knob is near the bottom edge of the front of the mixer next to the "Main Mix" knob. Plug your headphones into the headphone jack located on the front of the 1202-VLZ3 near the Mackie logo. Look for the jack with a headphone symbol next to it.

    • 2

Press one or more of the three "Control Room Source" buttons or listen to an individual channel by pressing the "Pre-Fader Solo" button on that channel.

    • 3

Turn the "CTL Room/Submix" knob up gradually until the volume reaches the level you want.
