Open the digital audio workstation containing the drum track.
Click the "Solo" button on the track containing the snare drum to mute playback on all other instruments. Press "Play" on the transport bar and use the fader on the snare drum track to adjust the volume of the snare drum. Watch the master volume meter. If the meter turns red when the audio peaks, decrease the snare volume. The audio should peak at just under zero decibels on the master volume meter.

Press "Play" on the transport bar and use the fader on the kick drum track to adjust the volume of the kick drum. Click the "Solo" button on the track containing the hi-hat or shaker to isolate it with the kick and snare drums. Drag the fader on this track all the way down and press "Play" on the transport bar. Gradually drag the fader up until the hi-hat or shaker peaks at half the volume of the snare drum.
Click the "Pan" knob on the snare drum track and move it to the left. Stop when the meter reads "-15."
Click the "Pan" knob on the hi-hat track and move it to the left. Stop when the meter reads "-40."
Add a high-pass filter to the kick drum track. Set the cutoff at 50hz and turn up the resonance to give the kick drum extra punch.
Click "Solo" on the snare, kick, and hi-hat or shaker tracks to enable playback on the rest of the tracks. Click "Play" on the transport bar to play the track.
