Connect a standard instrument cable to your guitar's output. Connect the other end of the cable to the input jack on the back panel of the G92TT.
Connect a USB cable to the "MIDI Out" jack on the rear panel of the G92TT. Connect the other end of this cable to the MIDI port on a computer.
Open your preferred digital audio workstation, for example Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase or Mixcraft. Double-click the desktop icon and wait for the program to launch. Depending on how you've configured your digital audio workstation, the last edited session or a brand new session will open automatically. To open a new session, click "File" and select "Open New."
Click "File" and select "New MIDI Track." There is typically a shortcut for this command, the location and nature of which varies between programs. However, if you don't know the shortcut you can typically execute the command from the "File" menu. Opening a new MIDI channel causes a new channel strip to open. This will have all of the relevant MIDI controls and parameters, such as volume and record-enable.
Name the channel by double-clicking where it says "MIDI 1."
Open the "Devices" menu. On some programs, such as Logic, this is in the "Settings" menu. In other systems it is accessible as a tab. Select "Input Devices" and select "G92TT" from the drop-down menu.
Set the tempo. Locate the box where the tempo is set. The typical default beats per minute (BPM) setting is 120, so look for a box with "120" in it. Edit that tempo to suit your preference. Increase the figure to speed up the tempo, or decrease the number to slow it down. Hit "Play" to audition the tempo.
Click the "R" icon on the channel strip. This arms the channel and configures it to receive MIDI command data.
Hit "Record" and play your take. Because you're recording direct and aren't using audio, there is no need for closed monitoring. This type of monitoring, achieved with headphones, prevents audio from spilling into a microphone or guitar pickup. Because you're recording MIDI, this isn't a concern.
Click the "Piano Roll" tab to see your recording in graphical form. Move the notes with your mouse to correct mistakes. Easy digital editing is one the many advantages of MIDI recording.
