How to Beef Up a Track in WaveBurner

WaveBurner is an audio finalization application that allows users to and encode titles, credits, copyright information and sequencing data into digital audio files to bring them up to Red Book CD Standards. In addition, WaveBurner includes a collection of equalization and dynamics processing plug-ins that allow users to add more punch and clarity to their audio. This final application of EQ and dynamics processing is called mastering.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Import" icon. Select the audio you want to affect to open the waveform in the sequence window.

    • 2

Click the "Region Plug-Ins" tab and select the region (song) where you want to apply effects.

    • 3

Click "Plug-in Chain" to open the drop-down menu. Select the "Compression" and "EQ" effects.

    • 4

Adjust the "EQ" settings to adjust the volume of specific frequency ranges. Mastering tames difficult extremely low and extremely high frequencies, so you will want to concentrate on these areas.

    • 5

Adjust the "Compression" settings to bring the waveform's peaks and troughs closer together. This will create more consistent-sounding dynamics. The "Threshold" setting adjusts the decibel level at which the compressor begins to work, and the "Ratio" setting adjusts the amount of compression that is applied once the audio has crossed the decibel threshold. A 2:1 ratio is considered light compression. Adjust the "Volume" on the compressor to increase or decrease the overall track volume.
