Take the three protective caps that came with the microphone out. The smallest cap is the "0" cap, the middle size is the "+4" and the largest is the "+8."
Grip the boom of the microphone, the long wire attached to the recording capsule. Take any one of the caps and slide the open, cut-out end straight over the end of the microphone.
Swap out different caps by pulling them off and affixing them as in the previous step. The "+0" will give you a flat frequency response, the "+4" will boost the high frequencies, adding some crispness to the sound, and the "+8" will boost the high frequencies even more, creating either a crisp or slightly distorted sound based on the voice.
