Taking vocals out of a track in GarageBand is useful when you wish to rerecord vocals or create an instrumental version of the song. Removing vocals from a GarageBand track is a simple procedure that takes mere seconds to complete. In order to take vocals out of a track in GarageBand, you only need to understand how to use the mute function.

      Open the GarageBand session that you want to modify.

      Find the vocal track within the GarageBand edit window.

      Click the mute button, illustrated by a speaker, on the vocal track. After clicking the mute button, a line will cross through it. This will mute the vocal track, making it inaudible.

      Press this button again if you ever wish to unmute the vocal track to bring the vocals back into the GarageBand session.
