Was the radio invented in Kentucky?

The invention of radio is commonly attributed to Guglielmo Marconi. Marconi was born in Italy and conducted his experiments in radio communication primarily in Italy and England. Kentucky does have a connection to radio history, as it was home to the first commercial radio station in the United States, which began broadcasting in 1920. However, the original development and invention of radio technology occurred elsewhere.
