Tools and Materials Needed:
- New aftermarket radio (Make sure it's compatible with your Tacoma's model and year)
- Wiring harness (Check the vehicle-specific type)
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Crimpers or solder kit (optional)
- Electrical tape
- Trim removal tool (optional)
Step 1: Disconnect the Vehicle's Battery
- Open the hood of your Tacoma and locate the negative battery terminal.
- Use the wrench to loosen the nut on the negative terminal and remove the cable.
Step 2: Remove Trim and Dashboard Components
- Use a pry tool to carefully remove the plastic trim pieces surrounding the stock radio.
- Gently pry the trim pieces loose and set them aside. Be careful not to break the plastic clips.
Step 3: Remove the Factory Radio
- Locate the four screws holding the factory radio in place.
- Remove the screws using a Phillips head screwdriver and carefully slide the old radio out of the dash.

- Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the factory radio.
- Take a picture of the wiring harness connections for reference.

- Use crimpers or solder connections as needed.
Step 6: Mount the New Radio
- Slide the new radio into the dashboard and align it with the mounting brackets.
- Reinsert the mounting screws and tighten them to secure the radio in place.
Step 7: Reconnect the Battery
- Reconnect the negative battery cable to the negative terminal and tighten it back onto the terminal.
Step 8: Test the New Radio
- Turn on the vehicle and test the new radio for power, volume, and audio functionality.
Step 9: Reattach the Trim Pieces
- Reattach the trim pieces that you removed earlier, making sure they snap back securely into place.
