In order to transmit and receive radio waves, a CB radio needs an antenna to send and receive the radio waves. The antenna is essentially the part of the radio that communicates with the outside world.
The antenna is responsible for converting electrical signals from the radio into radio waves, and vice versa. Without an antenna, the CB radio would not be able to communicate with other radios.
