What was first album?

The first music album ever released was "The Voice of Frank Sinatra", released on March 25, 1946, by American Decca Records.

Before this, music was primarily sold as individual singles or as collections of songs on 78-rpm shellac records, which could only hold a few minutes of audio per side.

With the introduction of the long-playing (LP) record, which used a new microgroove technology allowing for longer playing time, albums became a more practical way to listen to extended works of music.

"The Voice of Frank Sinatra" was a compilation album featuring 10 tracks, including some of his hit singles from the 1940s such as "All or Nothing at All", "I'll Never Smile Again", and "Nancy (With the Laughing Face)".

The album's success helped establish Sinatra as one of the most popular singers of the era and paved the way for the subsequent rise of the modern music album format.
