Vinyl is a type of plastic material made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is commonly used to make records, also known as phonograph records or vinyl records.
LP (Long Play) is a specific format of vinyl record that was introduced in the late 1940s. LPs are characterized by their larger size (12 inches) and longer playing time (up to 20 minutes per side) compared to earlier 78 rpm records.
All LPs are made of vinyl, but not all vinyl records are LPs. For example, there are also 7-inch vinyl records (EP or Extended Play) and 10-inch vinyl records.
