How to Reduce Bass Noise

Anyone who has a home or car stereo system wants to have the highest quality sound possible coming from the speakers. One of the things you will want to avoid is having the bass on your stereo too high, which will muddle the overall sound quality, can blow your speakers and also causes a very annoying buzzing sound that will drown out the music. There are a number of different ways you can adjust the bass to help reduce the noise level and to enjoy great quality and clear sound.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine all the different types of music you listen to and see which styles use a lot of low-end bass sounds. Musical styles such as rap, R&B and some forms of heavy metal music use a lot of deep, bass sounds that can overload your speakers.

    • 2

Check the menu of your stereo and find the graphic equalizer option. The graphic equalizer allows you to adjust the treble, middle and bass on your stereo.

    • 3

Browse through the list of presets in the graphic equalizer options. There will be preset adjustments programmed into the stereo based on the style of music. You will have a preset for rock, rap, blues and so on.

    • 4

Select a preset that matches the style of music you are playing and then test it out. Play a sample of music to test the preset and sound quality. If the bass is still too loud or if any other frequency seems out of place, try another preset.

    • 5

Open up the graphic equalizer again and select "Manual." This will allow you to make your own adjustments to the bass, treble and middle sound frequencies.

    • 6

Lower the bass controls in the graphic equalizers until you get a sound you are happy with and until the bass noise clears up. You may also have to turn up the treble to help balance out the bass noise.
