Many people say that the music is the best part of a church worship service. While it may come across as effortless, it takes a lot of hard work on the part of the church choir director to make it happen.
  1. Directing the Choir

    • The primary job of the choir director is to direct the choir in both practice and live performances.

    Choosing Music

    • The choir director chooses all of the music for the church service. This includes choir numbers, congregational songs and special music presentations.

    Auditioning Church Members

    • The choir director plans and runs auditions for seats in the choir, solo numbers and musicians.

    Attending Meetings

    • The choir director must attend all church budget and planning meetings. Knowing what is going on in the church will help the director make appropriate music choices for upcoming events.

    Budgeting

    • The choir director is responsible for sticking to the budget set forth by the church members. The director can spend the budget on music, instruments, choir robes and sound equipment.
