The Magic Stomp is a guitar effects stomp box produced by Yamaha. The pedal is available for both acoustic and electric guitars, and produces a full range of effects for musicians. Magic Stomp comes with 99 preset digital effects created to mimic the sound of vintage and modern effects pedals, and space for 99 new effects to be programmed by users by combining the various sound modules available through the unit. The Magic Stomp comes with a USB input, which owners can use to upload new effects onto the box. Delay, reverb, and sustain are among the many effects the Magic Stomp produces.
The Yamaha SPX2000 is a digital effects processor specifically designed for live audio. The unit is a rack effect, meaning that it is stored away from the guitar player, and can be operated remotely. The SPX2000 contains 97 effects programs, all of which are programmed with Yamaha's own algorithms for unique sounds. With the SPX2000, guitar players have the option of programming one sound to use continuously, or employing a remote footswitch with MIDI interface to initiate various preprogrammed effects sequences on the unit.
All Yamaha electric guitars have both tone and volume knobs that allow players to effect the sound of the guitar from the instrument itself. Volume on a guitar radically affects the sounds of an effects pedal. A distortion pedal sounds like light fuzz with a volume knob on low, and all-out assault with a volume knob on high. Tone switches change the pickup or combination of picks that are channeling the sound of a guitar through the amplifier. Neck pickups affect the sound of a guitar by making it deeper, while pickups closer to the base of a guitar give the instrument more treble.
