How to Sell My Vinyl Music

The digital revolution has changed how we consume music, but music on vinyl remains a popular way to collect albums. Some collectors pay good money for rare albums, and the Internet provides entire communities of vinyl buyers and sellers. Whatever the case, several outlets exist to put your music on the market. Touching up your collection physically could increase the vinyl's worth as you set out to find buyers.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the color and wear of the album artwork and the paper it's printed on. Straighten out bent corners and scrape off any residue or dust buildup.

    • 2

Assess the worth of your records. Talk to a local record store or experienced record collector. Certain websites (see Resources) offer free online assessments based on artist, year, album, rarity and condition of the vinyl.

    • 3

Take the records to a used music store with the assessed worth and begin bargaining. Or opt to sell your albums online to buyers across the country. This will require additional shipping, and you will need to upload an image of the album. That will require a camera or a scanner.
