Create a Noteflight account. Choose either the free membership, or Crescendo premium. The premium membership allows you to create up to 250 scores; the free membership allows up to 25. Also, the free membership lets you choose from 10 instrument sounds to play your score, while Crescendo has more than 50.
Begin composing by selecting the new score tab on the Noteflight page. Noteflight offers a private or shared option, which allows only you to view the music, or share it with other Noteflight users. When ready to compose click "OK" to proceed.
Prepare the staff paper. From the menu, choose the key, time signature, clef and then title the score.
Select the measure on the staff paper to add notes and other music notation. From the pallet, select the note time signature and place it on the staff by pointing and clicking. Noteflight regulates time value, and will re-adjust the notes if too many are placed in a measure. Add rests and other items in the same manner.
Listen to the composition before saving and printing. Select the instruments you want and play the score. To correct a mistake, click the pointer on the undesired note and delete it. Edit the score by replacing notes using the palette. Save by going to the file menu and choosing the export option.
Print the sheet music by selecting the print option. Noteflight prints the entire piece, staff paper and all.
