How to Get a Stain Off a Vinyl Record Cover

Many vinyl records are quite old and even if the actual vinyl is well cared for, the cover is often stained. You cannot generally clean matte covers yourself. If the cover and record are very valuable, take the cover to a professional for a cleaning consultation. If the vinyl album cover has a shiny surface, clean it carefully with a solvent to remove any stains. Be careful to never soak the cover as this could ruin it.
