Was josquin de prez a composer?

Josquin des Prez (c. 1450–1455 – 27 August 1521) was a Franco-Flemish composer. Along with Johannes Ockeghem and Jacob Obrecht, he is considered to be among the most prominent composers of the late Renaissance. More of his music survives from this time than that of any other composer.

Josquin's music encompasses most of the genres that were current during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Today he is best known for his Masses and motets, many of which are regarded as masterpieces of Renaissance polyphony, but during his lifetime he was probably equally esteemed as a composer of chansons; around seventy settings survive, more than any other composer of his time. Josquin's music was famous throughout educated Europe, and he became one of the first widely known composers since antiquity.
