- Ira D. Sankey (1840-1908): American hymnwriter and composer, known for his collaboration with Dwight L. Moody, wrote over 1,000 hymns, including "The Ninety and Nine" and "Tell Me the Old, Old Story."
- Robert Lowry (1826-1899): American hymnwriter, composer, and educator, wrote over 1,500 hymns, including "Nothing but the Blood" and "How Can I Keep from Singing?"
- Charles Wesley (1707-1788): English hymnwriter, brother of John Wesley, credited with writing over 6,500 hymns, including "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," and "And Can It Be."
- John Newton (1725-1807): English hymnwriter, former slave trader turned clergyman, wrote over 280 hymns, including "Amazing Grace" and "Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken."
