In the near future, Earth is facing severe environmental problems, including crop blights and widespread droughts, which threaten the survival of humanity. A group of astronauts led by Cooper, a former NASA pilot, is sent on a mission through a wormhole near Saturn to search for a new habitable planet for humanity.
Cooper, along with scientists Amelia Brand, Romilly, Doyle, and TARS (a sentient robot), travel through the wormhole and discover several potentially habitable planets. They undergo various challenges, including time dilation, which causes them to experience different amounts of time compared to Earth. Cooper also confronts personal struggles as he grapples with the possibility that he may never see his children again.
As the astronauts explore different planets, they encounter various phenomena, including ice worlds, water worlds, and a planet with extreme time dilation. They also discover evidence of a previous human civilization that had reached an advanced level of technology. Eventually, Cooper finds himself in a tesseract, a five-dimensional space-time continuum, where he witnesses events from his own past and present.
Through the guidance of a future version of Murph, Cooper's daughter who stayed on Earth, he realizes that the purpose of the mission is not only to find a new planet but also to transcend the limitations of human existence and gain the ability to manipulate gravity. Cooper uses his newfound knowledge to manipulate the tesseract and sends a message to Murph, enabling humanity to survive on Earth.
