What are three famous songs that were banned on radio?

1. "Gloomy Sunday" by Rezso Seress (1933)

This haunting song about suicide originally titled 'Vége a világnak' (The End of the World) was popular in Europe in the 1930s. However, it gained notoriety when it was linked to several suicides. Because of it's grim theme and its association with deaths that occurred after people listened to it Hungarian radio banned it in 1935, and several other European countries followed suit.

2. "Suicide is Painless" by MASH (1970)

This Academy award winning song from the Robert Altman film MASH, had two versions one with the lyrics "suicide is painless" and one without. Despite the popularity of the song, many radio stations refused to play the version with the controversial lyrics due to concerns about promoting suicide.

3. "Pump It" by The Black Eyed Peas (2005)

This song was banned on several radio stations in the US due to its suggestive lyrics. The lyrics that caused the controversy were "My humps, my humps, my lovely little lumps/ I get the goosebumps every time I touch them/ So good, so real, I hope they're always here/ Cause my humps, my humps, they give me everything."
