- The most obvious difference is that the Cie model is made of Grenadilla wood only. The regular E11 model is made of unstained African Blackwood (grenadilla) or stained Grenadilla wood.
- The tone is the next most distinctive difference. Because of the different material the Cie model clarinet produces more complex and richer tone than the student E11 model clarinet.
- The Cie Model has a slightly better intonation compared to the regular E11 model.
- The Cie Model has undercut tone holes, which are not present in the regular E11 model.
- The Cie Model has adjustable thumb rest while the regular E11 model does not.
- For both models, keywork is silver plated. However the Cie model is plated with a higher percentage of silver.
Similarities
Both the regular E11 and the E11 Cie clarinet have the same key system and the same general design.
The regular E11 and Cie both offer a comfortable key work system. They are both designed for the student clarinetists as the first upgrade from a student model.
