Amy Marcy Cheney Beach (September 5, 1867–December 27, 1944), known professionally as Mrs. H.H.A. Beach, was the first American woman to write a symphony, the Symphony in E-flat major, Op. 32, premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896 with Emil Paur as conductor.
