What was first symphony?

The first symphony was written by Carl Stamitz in 1740. Stamitz was a German composer and violinist who is considered to be one of the founders of the Classical symphony. His first symphony was in three movements and was written for an orchestra of strings, two oboes, two horns, and a harpsichord.
