Why The Beatles provide their own voices for the Yellow Submarine movie?

The voices in the Yellow Submarine movie were not performed by the Beatles. Instead, the actors Paul Angelis, John Clive, Geoff Hughes, Jeremy Nicholas and Peter Batten provided the vocals for the animated characters.
