Who invented illustrated song performances?

Illustrated song performances have existed since the early 1900s, when they were first used in vaudeville and music hall shows. The earliest known example is the "illustrated song" "The Teddy Bears' Picnic", which was performed in 1907 by British singer John Le Hay and accompanied by a series of projected images.
