What instruments did Robert Schumann play?

Robert Schumann was a German composer and pianist. He was a virtuoso pianist and performed frequently in his youth, but he gave up public performance in 1840 due to a hand injury. He continued to compose for piano and other instruments, however. He also played the cello and the viola, and he even tried his hand at the flute and the guitar.
