Did John Maccintosh invent the flute?

John Maccintosh did not invent the flute. The flute is a much older instrument, with evidence of flutes dating back to the Neolithic period. For example, bone flutes dating from around 43,000 to 35,000 years ago have been found in caves in Germany and Slovenia.
