Does dyslexia affect playing the piano?

While dyslexia is a learning disorder that can impact reading, writing, and spelling, it is not known to directly affect the ability to play the piano.

Musicians with dyslexia may face challenges related to reading sheet music, especially if it involves complicated rhythms or fast passages, but many professional musicians and composers with dyslexia have found ways to overcome or adapt to these challenges.

Playing the piano can also help individuals with dyslexia strengthen certain cognitive skills, such as coordination and memorisation.
