Is the guitar first made in Spain?

No, the guitar is not first made in Spain. The earliest ancestors of the guitar are believed to have originated in ancient Mesopotamia circa 3500 BC. Some of the oldest string instruments were found there, including a clay tablet featuring what appears to be a woman playing a stringed instrument with a strikingly guitar-like form. Later on, the guitar, as we know it today, was developed in Europe during the 14th century. It is believed that the instrument evolved from a variety of similar stringed instruments, such as the lute and the vihuela, both of which were popular in Europe at the time.
