What does broen chords mean in music?

Broken chords is a musical technique used in composition and performance. There are two types of broken chords:

1. Arpeggiated chords: When the notes of a chord are played in sequence rather than simultaneously, it is known as an arpeggio. Arpeggiated chords can be ascending, descending, or repeated, and they add movement and texture to a musical piece.

2. Alberti bass: This is a specific type of broken chord that involves playing the lowest note of a chord, followed by the highest note, then the middle notes of the chord, and finally the highest note again. Alberti bass is a common accompaniment figure in classical music, particularly during transitional sections.

Broken chords create a more delicate, shimmering, and dynamic effect compared to playing all the notes of the chord simultaneously.
