How High?: In the standard flute (C flute), the highest note is C7 (also notated as C8). The lowest note is C4.
How Low?: Bass flutes may extend the bottom by one or two octaves. An alto flute's lowest note is G3. Double basses can descend to C2, as does the subcontrabass.
