Can scotch tape ruin my fingerboard on cello?

Yes, scotch tape can ruin your fingerboard on cello. Scotch tape is not designed to be used on musical instruments, and can cause damage to the finish of the fingerboard. Additionally, the adhesive on scotch tape can react with the wood of the fingerboard, causing it to become discoloured or even warped. In some cases, scotch tape can also leave behind a sticky residue that can be difficult to remove.

Avoid using scotch tape or any other type of adhesive tape on your cello. If you need to secure something to your cello, use a product that is specifically designed for musical instruments, such as a music stand tape or a rosin cake.
