Why were there not more female singers on do they know its Christmas band aid?

The Band Aid single featured both female and male vocalists. Artists included Paul Young, George Michael, Boy George, Sting, Bono, Simon Le Bon, and Phil Collins. Additionally, there were female artists present during the recording, including Kim Wilde, Jody Watley, Bananarama, Marilyn, Holly Johnson, Carol Decker, Hazel O'connor, Selina Scott, Shreela and Kiki Dee.
