Who introduced the Clarinet?

The clarinet was invented by Johann Christoph Denner, a German instrument maker, in the early 18th century. Denner, who lived from 1655 to 1707, was a member of a family of woodwind instrument makers. He is credited with adding a key to the traditional chalumeau, an early single-reed woodwind instrument, which extended its range and made it more versatile. This development marked the birth of the clarinet. Denner's improvements on the chalumeau gained popularity, and the clarinet quickly became a prominent instrument in classical music.
