What is patteteg instrument?
The pateteg is an instrument used in traditional Malay music, especially in the dangdut genre. It consists of a series of metal keys arranged in a chromatic scale, and is played by striking the keys with a small hammer. The pateteg is used to provide a rhythmic accompaniment to the melody, and can also be used to play melodies by itself. It is often used in conjunction with other instruments, such as the gendang, suling, and gambus.
