Who wrote the musical sound of music?

The musical The Sound of Music was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Rodgers and Hammerstein were a successful Broadway songwriting team who wrote a number of other well-known musicals, including Oklahoma!, Carousel, and South Pacific. The Sound of Music was first produced on Broadway in 1959, and it was a critical and commercial success. The musical was later adapted into a film in 1965, which also became a huge success.
