Where do harp instruments come from?

Harps date back to ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt (ca. 3500–3200 BC), and examples have also been found in ancient China (ca. 2300 BC) and India (ca. 1500 BC). Ancient harps of the Middle East were likely the ancestors of the modern pedal, lever, and Celtic harps, and eventually spread to Europe, Asia, and Africa after being adopted by the ancient Greeks and Romans.
