Did the Classical period produced much more vocal than instrumental music?

The answer is: no

During the Classical period, instrumental music flourished and became increasingly popular. Composers such as Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven wrote numerous symphonies, concertos, and sonatas for various instruments. While vocal music, including operas and oratorios, was also composed, it did not dominate the musical landscape as it had in previous eras.
