What year was the fiddle invented?

There is no definitive answer to this question as the fiddle, like many other musical instruments, has evolved over time and has various predecessors. However, the earliest known stringed instruments resembling the fiddle date back to the 10th century, found in Europe and Asia. These instruments were known by different names such as the rebec and the vielle. As these instruments developed and spread across cultures and regions, they underwent various modifications, leading to the emergence of the fiddle in its modern form.
