What is bansik instrument?

The bansuri is a side-blown flute, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an aerophone consisting of a hollow shaft with finger holes, an open end where air is blown in, and a distal end that remains open but is partially covered by a membrane in some traditional forms. The bansuri is traditionally made of bamboo, though variations made of wood, metal, and ivory have also been used. The bansuri has been in use for centuries, possibly dating back to the 15th century BCE, and is a prominent instrument in Indian classical music. Beyond India, the bansuri has also been adopted in other musical traditions, such as Hindustani classical music and jazz.
