How long roughly does it take to play guitar well?

There is no one answer to this question as it depends on a number of factors, including the individual's natural ability, the amount of time and effort they are willing to put in, and the level of proficiency they are aiming for. However, some general guidelines can be provided.

For someone who is starting from scratch, it typically takes around 2-3 years to reach a basic level of proficiency. This means being able to play simple songs, chords, and strumming patterns. To reach an intermediate level, where you are able to play more complex songs, solos, and fingerpicking patterns, it typically takes around 5-10 years. And to reach an advanced level, where you are able to play virtuoso pieces and improvise fluently, it typically takes 10+ years.

Of course, there are some people who are able to progress much faster than this, and others who may take longer. Ultimately, the amount of time it takes to play guitar well is up to the individual.

Here are a few tips to help you progress more quickly:

* Practice regularly. The more you practice, the faster you will improve.

* Find a good teacher. A good teacher can help you develop good technique and avoid bad habits.

* Set realistic goals. Don't try to learn everything at once. Break your learning down into smaller, more manageable goals.

* Have fun! Learning guitar should be enjoyable, so make sure you're having fun along the way.
