What are the six instrument groups?

1. String instruments produce sound when their strings vibrate. They are usually played by plucking or bowing the strings. Examples include the violin, cello, and guitar.

2. Woodwind instruments produce sound when air is blown across a reed or mouthpiece. They are usually played by blowing into a mouthpiece. Examples include the clarinet, saxophone, and flute.

3. Brass instruments produce sound when air is blown through a mouthpiece into a metal tube. They are usually played by blowing into a mouthpiece. Examples include the trumpet, trombone, and tuba.

4. Percussion instruments produce sound when they are struck, shaken, or scraped. Examples include the drum, cymbal, and triangle.

5. Keyboard instruments produce sound when keys are pressed. They are usually played by pressing keys that cause hammers to strike strings or metal bars. Examples include the piano, organ, and synthesizer.

6. Electronic instruments produce sound using electronic circuits and devices. They are often played by using a keyboard, buttons, or other controllers. Examples include the electric guitar, synthesizer, and drum machine.
