Is there a difference between flute or c-flute?

Flute and C-flute refer to the same musical instrument, the transverse flute. The term "C-flute" is sometimes used to specify that the flute is pitched in the key of C. However, the vast majority of flutes are pitched in C, so the terms "flute" and "C-flute" are often used interchangeably.

There are other variations of the flute that are pitched in different keys, such as the piccolo (pitched an octave higher in C), the alto flute (pitched a fourth lower in G), and the bass flute (pitched an octave lower in C). These flutes are less commonly used than the C-flute, which is the standard flute used in most musical settings.
