1. Place your embouchure (the way you form your lips and mouth) as you normally would for playing the clarinet.
2. Ensure that the register key (the key on the upper right side of the clarinet) is not engaged. This key is typically used for playing higher notes, so it should be up or raised for playing B.
3. Press down on the following keys with your fingers:
- Left-hand: Index finger on the E-flat key (the first open key from the top on the bottom section)
- Left-hand: Middle finger on the F key (the second open key from the top on the bottom section)
- Right-hand: Index finger on the A key (the first open key from the top on the top section)
4. While keeping these fingers down, add the following keys to produce the B note:
- Left-hand: Pinky finger on the B-flat key (the lowest key on the bottom section)
- Right-hand: Middle finger on the B-flat key (located above the A key on the top section)
- Right-hand: Ring finger on the high E key (the open key located farthest to the right)
Once you have all these keys pressed down, blow air into the mouthpiece while maintaining proper airflow. This should produce the B note. Practice the fingering and embouchure until you can consistently produce a clear and stable B note.
