Be prepared. Before you can present your work to a venue, you need to make sure that you have the right materials gathered. If you have recorded a CD of your music, make sure to have a complete and labeled list of your tracks prepared on a CD and in a case. Include any relevant information on your demo's cover, such as contact information and production information regarding your music. It will also be helpful to have multiple copies of your work in the event of large distribution.
Take advantage of networking opporutnities. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to walk into a club and have your music played upon request. First, establish communication. Get in touch with the owner of the club, any club promoters and the disc jockey responsible for the music.
Have a business plan. Be prepared to discuss exactly why you feel your music would contribute to the club's atmosphere, and what kind of accolades or royalties might be available if your music is selected to play in rotation.
