How to Be Gothic Punk

Gothic punk culture is about showing your individuality, whether through your music choices or your clothing and style. Goths -- both men and women -- are identified by mostly dark blue and black clothing, as well as their pale skin, dark makeup and dyed hair. The music they listen to is loud and raucous, and it's often produced by bands that other people have never heard of. So get out your black garb and makeup and get ready to turn into a gothic punk.

      Dye your hair black. This is the most time-consuming and potentially messy step in becoming a gothic punk.

      Apply face makeup. If you're not naturally pale, cover your face and neck in powder to create a ghostly look.

      Cover yourself from head to toe in black. Black flowing or tight shirts, black pants, black boots -- often knee-high -- and black leather accessories are a large part of the gothic punk culture.

      Finish your makeup. Apply black eyeliner around the upper and lower lids of your eyes, and apply black mascara to your lashes. The key is to make your eyes pop against your pale white skin. Cover your lips in black lipstick, and you're set for the day.
